I am Alkan Kartal, an experimental visual artist based in Amsterdam. I create colorful, surrealistic dream worlds to lose yourself in and make you forget the world around you.

Growing up, I created art to escape the hectic ‘real world’ of contemporary society and enter a creative wonderland to forget the day to day craziness. My goal is to give the observer the same feelings I get while creating art.

My creative journey started early. As soon as I could hold a crayon, I was already creating. Even when browsing through my old notebooks, you would find math homework surrounded by doodles and artworks. Watching an MTV video of the colourful, imaginative world of Gorillaz as a kid was a key turning point in my journey.

Style and Techniques

My continually evolving style has matured into vibrant, surrealistic visions. I play with a variety of techniques, materials, and art forms. My mind is best described as a ‘creative mess’, which I channel into a wide range of artworks and expressions. With every work I create, I try to push my artistic boundaries and blur the lines between digital and traditional art.
